A friend's old skateboard deck was brought back to life after being restored by it's owner, I was then commissioned to recreate a scene from his favorite cartoon "Samuri Jack" to give the board some character.
PAINTING
My favorite thing about painting is that it can be done anywhere on anything, not just paper. So far some of my favorite pieces have been painted on an old piece of wood, some disposed cardboard or even a used skateboard deck.

This particular piece, was painted on a friends old long board and was inspired from a treehouse my dad had built me as a kid.
Graduation Cap
Even the old dusty barn in my backyard had an influence in my work.
I thoroughly enjoyed the simple radial patterns found in my mother's succulent garden.
Can you spot the Octopus?
Another skateboard commission for a good friend.
This piece was inspired by my travel to Italy, in particular the city views of Cinque Terre.
Lets just say that sharpie on an old skateboard doesn't quite do this place justice.
As a kid, I loved trips to the junkyard. (aka the ultimate playground)
There are very few teachers you come across in your life who influence you beyond their subjects. These pieces are actually painted onto the side of a high school classroom desk. In an attempt to cover up offensive graffiti at my table, I started to paint some of the amazing creatures I was learning about in my Marine Biology class. After being caught "defacing school property" by my Marine Biology teacher, not only was I miraculously not in trouble, but I was also encouraged to continue painting on all the desks. My teacher explained that he knew I was paying attention because I was quiet and focused on the material and believed this was simply just my way of learning. Thanks to my teacher, I realized that drawing helped me focus and listen to long lectures which was a skill I was able to master by college.
Speaking of influencers, this deck design was made for a great friend who had just survived intense heart surgery. His bravery and triumph inspired so many in the Long Beach community, especially myself. This piece actually ending up being a tattoo on his leg.
One of my favorite hobbies as a teen was skim boarding and after competing in a few competitions I had met some cool people. This piece is inspired by a quote from one of those rad humans.
Inspired by my favorite camping trip sunsets in the redwoods..... and my favorite kinds of cars.
